Michelin Recalls: How to Check (NHTSA)

Tire recalls are handled by NHTSA, not the CPSC. Here's how to check whether your Michelin tires are affected, using the DOT code on your sidewall, and what to do if they are. Our CPSC search below covers Michelin's non-tire products.

About Michelin recalls

Tire recalls in the US are handled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), not the CPSC. When Michelin issues a tire recall, it is filed with NHTSA and the remedy is nearly always free replacement of the affected tires through authorized dealers.

Registering new tires with Michelin at purchase (your installer often does this) means you are notified directly if a recall is ever issued, and it is the reason tire registration cards exist.

Michelin products to check: Michelin recalls, when they occur, involve its passenger, truck, and SUV tires. If you own several, check each one, recall notices name specific models and production ranges, and one product line being recalled says nothing about the others.

Already own Michelin products? Add them to the free WarrantyRanger tracker and we'll alert you automatically if they're ever recalled, so you don't need to check manually.

What to do if your Michelin product is recalled

  1. Confirm your model is affected

Click the official CPSC recall link in the results above. Recalls list the specific model numbers and date ranges covered, not all products in a line are necessarily affected.

  2. Stop using the product if the hazard is active

Some recalls involve fire, shock, or injury hazards. If the recall notice recommends stopping use immediately, follow that guidance before contacting the company for a remedy.

  3. Contact Michelin for your remedy

Recall notices include the manufacturer's contact information and the specific remedy offered (repair, replacement, or refund). Contact them directly, remedies are provided at no cost under federal law.

  4. Register for recall alerts

Add your Michelin products to the WarrantyRanger tracker and we'll email you if they're ever recalled in the future, including products you've already added.
