How long is the Vizio warranty?

Vizio TVs and sound bars carry a 1-year limited warranty covering parts and labor, valid only when the product was purchased new from an authorized Vizio reseller. A meaningful detail most owners miss: for TVs 30 inches and larger, Vizio offers in-home service for defects that can be repaired on-site — smaller units must be shipped to Vizio's service center.

Vizio must pre-authorize any claim before referring you to a service center, so contact support before shipping anything. Repairs may use new or recertified parts, and replacement parts carry the remainder of the original warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer. Keep the original box if you can — smaller TVs often must be shipped back for service.

How to file a Vizio warranty claim

  1. Find your proof of purchase

Locate the receipt, order confirmation, or card statement showing the purchase date — coverage is measured from it.

  2. Locate the model & serial number

Usually on a label on the unit, in the manual, or in your online account. Vizio support will ask for it first.

  3. Contact Vizio through an official channel

Use the support number or claim form on their official site — not third-party sellers — so your claim is on record with the manufacturer.

  4. Document everything

Save case numbers, names, dates, and photos of the defect. A clear paper trail resolves disputes faster.

  5. Escalate if needed

If a valid claim stalls, ask for a supervisor and reference your statutory rights as a consumer (see our warranty types guide).

Repair or replace your Vizio? A quick rule of thumb

The common guidance: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new unit, or the unit is past ~75% of its expected lifespan, replacement usually wins. For major sealed-system or compressor failures out of warranty, repairs can run $400–$1,000+, which often tips toward replacing — but always get a diagnosis first.

When the warranty ends

Out of warranty or claim denied? Here's how to think through the options — ranked by what usually makes financial sense first.

Repair it

Cracked screen or battery? An authorized repair is often far cheaper than replacement for Vizio devices.
