How long is the Dyson warranty?

Dyson coverage depends on the machine type: cordless vacuums, hair care, and headphones carry a 2-year warranty, while corded vacuums, fans, purifiers, and humidifiers carry 5 years. Coverage includes batteries and parts for the same length as the machine — a meaningful detail, since most brands shorten battery coverage. If Dyson can't repair your machine, they replace it.

Dyson runs its own service centers with same-day repair in select locations, and offers free collection of your machine for mail-in repairs — including a prepaid label and, in some cases, a loaner machine. Register at My Dyson (registration is recommended, not required) to speed up warranty verification.

How to file a Dyson warranty claim

  1. Find your proof of purchase

Locate the receipt, order confirmation, or card statement showing the purchase date — coverage is measured from it.

  2. Locate the model & serial number

Usually on a label on the unit, in the manual, or in your online account. Dyson support will ask for it first.

  3. Contact Dyson through an official channel

Use the support number or claim form on their official site — not third-party sellers — so your claim is on record with the manufacturer.

  4. Document everything

Save case numbers, names, dates, and photos of the defect. A clear paper trail resolves disputes faster.

  5. Escalate if needed

If a valid claim stalls, ask for a supervisor and reference your statutory rights as a consumer (see our warranty types guide).

Repair or replace your Dyson? A quick rule of thumb

The common guidance: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new unit, or the unit is past ~75% of its expected lifespan, replacement usually wins. For major sealed-system or compressor failures out of warranty, repairs can run $400–$1,000+, which often tips toward replacing — but always get a diagnosis first.

When the warranty ends

Out of warranty or claim denied? Here's how to think through the options — ranked by what usually makes financial sense first.

🔧
Repair it

Get a diagnosis first. Many Dyson parts are DIY-replaceable and a quote often costs nothing.
