How long is the Breville warranty?

Breville coverage depends on the specific model, and the difference is significant enough to check before you buy or file a claim. Most of Breville's premium espresso machines carry a 2-year limited warranty, while several entry-level and compact models carry a 1-year limited warranty. Coverage runs from the date of purchase — or, for California residents, the date of delivery.

2-year coverage

Bambino Plus, Barista Pro, Barista Express Impress, Barista Touch, Barista Touch Impress, Dual Boiler, Oracle, Oracle Touch, Oracle Jet, and Precision Brewer.

1-year coverage

Bambino, Barista Express, Grind Control, Milk Cafe, and Smart Grinder Pro.

Breville Certified Remanufactured products carry a shorter 6-month limited warranty. Always confirm your exact model's term on Breville's official warranty page, linked in the panel on this page — terms can change and vary by region.

What the Breville warranty covers

The Breville limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use. If a covered defect appears within the warranty period, Breville will — at its discretion — repair the product, replace it with the same or a comparable model, or provide another remedy free of charge.

Coverage does not include damage from improper use, lack of descaling or maintenance, normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or any commercial use (for example, a machine used in an office, café, or hotel). Using a Breville product in a commercial setting voids the consumer warranty entirely.

Does Breville require registration?

No. Breville's warranty terms state plainly that product registration, while appreciated, is not required to activate your warranty — and registration is not a substitute for proof of purchase. What you actually need to make a claim is your original sales receipt and the product's model and serial number. Registering can make support smoother, but skipping it does not reduce your coverage.

Keep this instead of registering: a photo of your receipt and a photo of the model/serial label (usually molded into the housing underneath or on the back). Those two things are what Breville actually asks for at claim time.

How to file a Breville warranty claim

  1. Find your proof of purchase

Locate the receipt, order confirmation, or card statement showing the purchase date — coverage is measured from it.

  2. Locate the model & serial number

Usually on a label on the unit, in the manual, or in your online account. Breville support will ask for it first.

  3. Contact Breville through an official channel

Use the support number or claim form on their official site — not third-party sellers — so your claim is on record with the manufacturer.

  4. Document everything

Save case numbers, names, dates, and photos of the defect. A clear paper trail resolves disputes faster.

  5. Escalate if needed

If a valid claim stalls, ask for a supervisor and reference your statutory rights as a consumer (see our warranty types guide).

Repair or replace your Breville? A quick rule of thumb

The common guidance: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new unit, or the unit is past ~75% of its expected lifespan, replacement usually wins. For major sealed-system or compressor failures out of warranty, repairs can run $400–$1,000+, which often tips toward replacing — but always get a diagnosis first.

When the warranty ends

Out of warranty or claim denied? Here's how to think through the options — ranked by what usually makes financial sense first.

Repair it

Get a diagnosis first. Many Breville parts are DIY-replaceable and a quote often costs nothing.
