How long is the American Standard HVAC warranty?

American Standard HVAC systems follow the standard registration model: a 5-year Base Limited Warranty on parts that extends to 10 years on the Registered Limited Warranty when you register within 60 days of installation. Select premium units carry longer compressor and heat-exchanger terms. American Standard shares engineering and parts with Trane (same parent company), so service quality is comparable.

Register each component of your system individually at the American Standard site — your installation invoice lists every component and serial number you'll need. Warranty service runs through authorized dealers, and optional extended warranties (parts and labor) can be purchased through your dealer. Labor is not included in the manufacturer warranty itself.

How to file an American Standard warranty claim

  1. Find your proof of purchase

Locate the receipt, order confirmation, or card statement showing the purchase date — coverage is measured from it.

  2. Locate the model & serial number

Usually on a label on the unit, in the manual, or in your online account. American Standard support will ask for it first.

  3. Contact American Standard through an official channel

Use the support number or claim form on their official site — not third-party sellers — so your claim is on record with the manufacturer.

  4. Document everything

Save case numbers, names, dates, and photos of the defect. A clear paper trail resolves disputes faster.

  5. Escalate if needed

If a valid claim stalls, ask for a supervisor and reference your statutory rights as a consumer (see our warranty types guide).

Repair or replace your American Standard? A quick rule of thumb

The common guidance: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new unit, or the unit is past ~75% of its expected lifespan, replacement usually wins. For major sealed-system or compressor failures out of warranty, repairs can run $400–$1,000+, which often tips toward replacing — but always get a diagnosis first.
