Best HVAC Warranties of 2026: Carrier, Trane, Goodman, Lennox, York & More

An HVAC system is one of the most expensive things in your home, and a compressor replacement can run thousands of dollars. The warranty — and crucially, whether you register it in time — determines whether that's covered. We compared the major brands on the terms that actually matter.

The two things that decide your HVAC coverage

1. Registration. Almost every brand here doubles your parts coverage (5 years → 10 years) if you register within 60–90 days of installation. Miss the window and you lose half your coverage. This is the most consequential thing a new HVAC owner can do.

2. Labor. Manufacturer warranties almost never cover labor — you pay the technician even for a covered part. The exceptions matter, and we flag them below.

The warranties compared

*Lifetime and extended terms require online registration within the brand's window (typically 60–90 days of installation). Unregistered units revert to shorter base terms.

The verdict

York is the strongest overall. It's one of the only brands to include labor as standard, and registered units get lifetime compressor and heat exchanger coverage. If warranty is your deciding factor, York's terms lead the field.

Goodman is the best value. A lifetime compressor warranty on a budget-priced system is genuinely remarkable — you get premium-tier coverage at a value-tier price, as long as you register.

Daikin offers the longest flat parts term at 12 years including the compressor — simple and strong — but be aware that Daikin voids coverage on equipment bought online and not professionally installed.

Carrier, Trane, and Bryant are the established premium names with solid, conventional 10-year registered coverage. Their warranties are good; they're just no longer the most generous now that York and Goodman have pushed terms further.

The mistake that costs the most: not registering within the window. Every brand here cuts your coverage roughly in half if you skip registration. Your installer may do it for you — confirm it, don't assume it. Then keep the confirmation.
